Welcome to Girl Guides in Holderness! We cover a wide area, including Hedon, Hornsea, Withernsea, Patrington, Keyingham, Thorngumbald, Sproatley, Bilton and Skirlaugh.
Girlguiding UK is the biggest youth organisation for girls in the UK. We welcome girls and women from five years up: from Rainbows, Brownies and Guides through to a Senior Section and beyond.
Guiding started in 1910 and we are now celebrating the past 100 years and looking forward to the next 100! Why not come and join us?
We offer a safe girl-only space, where girls and young women from all backgrounds, faiths and abilities can develop and find their own potential. We are a modern organisation and relevant to the world today. See our news/events section to see what we’ve been up to recently!
Below is a summary of what is available in our area: for meeting times and venues please contact us on the number/email below.
(age 5-7) Have Fun!
Rainbows play games, make things and learn new things.
Rainbows meet weekly during term times at Hedon, Hornsea and Withernsea.
(age 7-10) Is An Adventure!
With challenges, games and activities, Brownies help decide what they do.
Brownies meet weekly during term times at Bilton, Hedon, Hornsea, Keyingham, Patrington, Skirlaugh, Sproatley, Thorngumbald and Withernsea.
(age 10-14) Go For It!
Guides are involved in all sorts of challenges, including cooking and eating, crafts, performing, trips out, camps and outdoor pursuits. See the news/events section for more details.
Guides meet weekly during term times at Hedon and Patrington.
(age 14-25) Offers Great Opportunities!
The older girls follow a flexible programme that fits around their hectic life of exams and work. Senior Section has the chance to take part in wider county events and many girls take part in international guiding opportunities.
Many girls also help as young leaders with the younger sections.
Senior Section meets fortnightly during term times at Hedon.
Trefoil Guild (the mature ladies who don’t want to leave!) meets flexibly.
Leaders and Adults (18 and over)
All the sections have adult leaders at the helm, and also many other adult helpers who may help occasionally.
This is a great opportunity to support young girls, have fun, learn new skills, and make some life-long friends.
If you think you can help us, even just a little bit, please get in touch. No experience is needed: just a sense of fun!
